Florencio Harmodio Arosemena (born September 17, 1872 - August 30, 1945 ) was the 14th President of Panama .

Arosemena completed his engineering degree in Germany, where he also worked before moving to Ecuador and then back to Panama. Here he constructed well-known structures such as the National Palace, the National Institute, the bridge over the Santa Maria river or the railway line from Port Armuelles to Concepscion. Politics was not his main field of activity. It was all the more astonishing that he was elected President of the Republic on October 1, 1928, to succeed Rodolfo Chiari . One day after a state financial crisis became known, he had to resign on January 3, 1931. His successor as President was Ricardo Joaquín Alfaro Jované .

Arosemena spoke seven languages ​​and was recognized for his services by several European and American countries. He also belonged to the influential Arosemenas family, which also provided the fifth president Pablo Arosemena Alba and the 23rd president Domingo Díaz Arosemena .
