Arnold Nugent Strode-Jackson (born April 5, 1891 in Addlestone , England , † November 13, 1972 in Oxford ) was a British athlete and Olympic champion .

In 1910 Jackson went to Brasenose College , Oxford . He rowed, played soccer and hockey, and became the captain of the hockey team. In this he also won the one- mile run three times for his college against Cambridge and was president of the Oxford University Athletics Club .

At the 5th Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 , he won the gold medal in the 1,500 meter run , ahead of the two Americans Abel Kiviat (silver) and Norman Taber (bronze).

The First World War , in which he was wounded several times, ended his sporting career. He then worked in industry and as a justice of the peace in the United States of America. In the 1960s he returned to Oxford, where he spent his old age.
