The Mixmaster was a dance project by the Italian DJ and pioneer of the Italian House Daniele Davoli, who also made a name for himself as one of the heads of Black Box ( Ride on Time etc.).
The single Grand Piano , which Davoli had written together with his black box colleague Mirco Limoni, was released in autumn 1989 and became a Europe-wide hit. The song that samples the 1987s dance hit You Used to Hold Me by Ralphi Rosario feat. Xavier Gold, first made it into the top 10 of the English charts at the end of the year , and a little later also into the top 20 in Germany and Austria .
Grand Piano remained the only release of the project The Mixmaster, in which Tony Dawson-Harrison, known as Captain Hollywood, was originally involved, but who withdrew from it because he was not convinced of the quality of the track .
