The Lake Christabel is a small lake in the Buller District of the West Coast region to the north of New Zealand's South Island . It's located twelve kilometers southwest of Lewis Pass . Closest settlements are Maruia Springs 4 km to the northeast and Springs Junction 6 km to the northwest. The State Highway 65 leads about 2 km north past the lake.
Lake Christabel is the source lake of the Blue Gray River and thus of the Gray River , one of the longest rivers in the west coast region of New Zealand's South Island .
