With 30 Years of Heppner is the fifth solo tour of the German synth pop - singer Peter Heppner .

background

With 30 Years of Heppner it was the fifth tour Heppner as a solo artist and consisted of an electric and acoustic set. The tour lasted just over a month from October 31 to December 3, 2017. It took him and his accompanying band through six German cities as well as once to Barcelona in Spain and once to Warsaw in Poland. In Spain it was Heppner's first concert as a solo artist and the third concert of his career. He already played two solo concerts with Wolfsheim in May 2002. In Poland it was Heppner's first concert in his career. The concerts outside Germany took place without guest appearances and thus consisted of a smaller setlist.

The concert series was a small club tour to celebrate Heppner's thirty year anniversary on the stage. During the entire tour he was supported by one of his long-time companions, Marcus Meyn (singer of the German synth-pop band Camouflage ). At the concerts in Dresden, Erfurt and Potsdam he was also supported as a guest singer by the US singer and long-time companion Kim Sanders . Heppner sang two to three duets each evening with both artists.

Opening act

The British synth-pop band Knight $ played in the opening act for all concerts. Their half-hour set consisted of eight songs: Uncivilized (cover version of the Canadian electro-pop band Psyche ), What We Leave Behind , So Cold , Cards on the Table , When the Lights Go Out , What's your Poison , Snap, Snap! The Alligator and Heart (cover version of the British duo Pet Shop Boys ).

Setlist

The set list consisted of 22 or 23 songs, making it the largest concert program that Heppner played in his solo career. It consisted of songs from his two solo albums and, in part, a compilation of older guest contributions and Wolfsheim pieces. In the middle of the concert there was an acoustic session to commemorate the “successful” acoustic concerts of recent years.

On three evenings when Kim Sanders was a guest, Heppner played three duets with her. Together they sang the songs Deserve to Be Alone , Delicately Yours and Kein zurück . In Deserve to Be Alone is a piece that Heppner in turn wrote for Sanders. It was to be the first work by Heppner to be sung by a different interpreter. Sanders also sang the song in its solo version, ultimately the two decided to publish the song as a duet. During the tour, Heppner and Sanders sang the song live together for the first time. When performing without Sanders, Heppner sang the piece alone. In Delicately Yours is a cover version of the original from Sanders and Schiller in 2003. The song was the first time on this tour of Heppner - interpreted - in conjunction with Sanders. On the evenings without Sanders, the piece was dropped from the set list. No turning back is an old Wolfsheim piece that Heppner sang for the first time in a duet. On the evenings without Sanders, he sang the song with Marcus Meyn . Only Deserve to Be Alone was released in a studio version, the other two tracks not.

Heppner also sang a total of three or two duets with Meyn. In addition to Kein zurück , he sang the tracks The Smiling Face and Count on Me in a duet with him . The latter is a joint single from Heppner and Meyn's band Camouflage . They sang both songs together in various guest appearances that Heppner made between 2014 and 2015 at Camouflage. No turning back and That Smiling Face never appeared in an official studio version. The duets took place exclusively during the concerts of both parties.
