Tivoli and Aladin (2012)

The Aladin Music Hall (often only briefly Aladin ) is a 1977 Bremen district of Hemelingen founded nightclub . Since 1991, together with the adjacent Tivoli, it has been an event center with 2,500 square meters of event space. The Aladin is now one of the most famous event locations in the region and is an integral part of the Bremen music scene and cultural life in Bremen.

history

The Lüers Tivoli inn, built in 1890/91 on the site of today's Aladin , was located directly on the border between the state of Bremen and the state of Prussia , because Hemelingen only became part of the state of Bremen in 1939. Because of the immediately adjacent barrier, Hinrich Luers founded the inn there on Prussian soil, which enjoyed great popularity and could therefore be continuously expanded. His company finally included a restaurant, a ballroom and his own gym. In the 1920s a cinema was built, in the former premises of which is today's Aladin Music Hall . After television prevailed, Hinrich Luers' granddaughter-in-law had to stop operating the cinema and other companies in 1975.

Aladin (2007)

After the disco operator Bernhard "Natz" Linnenbaum had had some success with the Albatros disco in the Westphalian town of Rheine- Mesum in 1973 , he looked for opportunities in larger cities. In 1977 he leased the former restaurant and cinema in Bremen-Hemelingen from Magda Luers and opened the Aladin there . The large discotheque with its unique, distinctive interior, which was continuously expanded by "Natz" Linnenbaum in the historic premises, soon became known in Bremen and the region. The musical focus is still rock and jazz today . First DJ of Aladin in 1977 was the musician Norbert Krueler that previously the Albatross had participated and from then on for decades until 2009 Aladin hung up as a DJ. He ensured the typical sound that shaped the Aladin and encompassed the most varied of musical genres - from funk and soul to pop and hard rock to electronic music . In the 1980s, Krüler's own Shamall music in the progressive rock style was added.

In addition to the usual disco operation, musicians of all genres have been given the opportunity to perform live since the club was founded. In 1991, Linnenbaum also took over the remaining rooms in the complex. The Lüers Tivoli was set up in the former ballroom immediately next to the previous Aladin .

Themed parties have also been held since the early 2000s. These include the hard rock night, the titty twister club or over 30 and over 40 parties. While the actual Aladin covers the typical areas of rock, the Tivoli offers a wide variety of styles, from techno , jungle , drum and bass to electro and future pop in the monthly so-called raven black night . In addition to the Aladin and the Tivoli, the Party Point also offers the option of renting rooms for private celebrations.

In the meantime many world stars played on the stage of the Aladin Music Hall . In addition, numerous concerts were broadcast on radio and television. From 1998 to 2002, regularly from the Aladin the Festival of German Schlager by the ARD nationwide and up to Austria and into Switzerland aired. In 2005 Bremen Eins celebrated “40 years of the Beat Club ” there with the Scorpions , James Blunt and many other musicians.

In 2011, at the age of 59, Linnenbaum sold the Aladin and retired. The operator since then has been ElWeGe GmbH, consisting of Elisabeth Gerdes as managing director and her husband Werner. The company currently (2018) has 70 full and part-time employees. In November 2018, the operating company filed for bankruptcy , although the nightclub operations continued for the time being.

In total, more than 1,500 artists and bands appeared in over 2,500 concerts in the Aladin and the associated Tivoli in the forty-year history up to 2018. Most recently, around 120,000 visitors a year were recorded. The Aladin and the associated Tivoli offer a total of five dance floors and 13 bars on an event area of up to 2,500 square meters.

Trivia

Already at the end of the 1970s, the Aladin was nicknamed “Dröhn”, because back then there were hardly any discos with such a powerful loudspeaker system and a lot of rock music was played there. Regular guests, some of whom have been guests for two or three decades, still call it that today. Musical time travel to the 70s and 80s is offered under the motto “Dröhn-Nacht”.

At first there was no distinct backstage area in the Aladin and only a few artists' cloakrooms, so that the artists had to move between partition walls - which was not a problem for most of them. Together with the special aura of the traditional venue, this contributed to the special reputation of the later “cult disco”.
