Gottlieb Friedrich Ludloff

Gottlieb Friedrich Ludloff (born March 18, 1751 in Clingen ; † April 8, 1825 in Sondershausen ) was a government secretary, Princely Council, messenger and head of the Princely Natural History Collection in Sondershausen.

Life

Gottlieb Friedrich Ludloff was the second child of Johann Friedrich Ludloff . He studied law at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and then moved to Sondershausen. There he became government secretary and messenger master.

He set up his own collection of natural produce and from around 1796 was a supervisor, later inspector of the natural history cabinet of Prince Günther Friedrich Carl I , which he later headed as the Princely Councilor until his death.

Around 1800 investigations and experiments on the Püstrich in Sondershausen were carried out under his supervision.

Gottlieb Friedrich Ludloff was married and had 6 children. He was the brother of Friedrich Carl Ludloff and the father of Gottlieb Wilhelm Ludloff .

Development of the collection

Around 1725, Prince Günther Friedrich Carl I had acquired a collection of natural objects created by the privy councilor von Hopfgarten for the exhibition in Sondershausen.

This has been continuously supplemented. The following collections could be acquired as examples:

From 1909 to 1912 the collection was dissolved and transferred to the magistrate in Sondershausen.

Overseer of the natural history cabinet

From 1725 to approx. 1796 the privy councilor von Hopfgarten was in charge of the princely natural history cabinet.

In 1796, Gottlieb Friedrich Ludloff compiled a complete directory of the Princely Natural History Cabinet in Sondershausen. After his death, his daughter Charlotte Louise (* 1784) was in charge of the natural history cabinet until 1833.

From 1836 Gottlieb Döbling (1797–1858) took on the task of expanding the natural history cabinet. From 1842 to 1879, with interruptions, Professor Göbel and 1862 Professor Irmisch were the overseer of the Naturalienkabinetta. From 1879 Professor Toepfer was in charge.
