The list of mineralogical museums contains a list of internationally, regionally or thematically important collections of minerals , precious and semi-precious stones, rocks, meteorites, etc., which can be viewed by the public.
The collection is one of the most important in the world. Rocks, minerals in a systematic arrangement , precious stones and meteorites are shown in five halls .
The collection comprises 80,000 objects and is based on the donation from Archduke Johann's private collection . Two of the showrooms go back to the late 19th century with the original mineral system according to Tschermak .
The École des mines (since 2008 Mines ParisTech) was founded in 1783. The collection, which was created for teaching purposes, now comprises over 100,000 pieces.
The collection was set up for teaching purposes in 1812, one year after the university was founded. Expanded through numerous collections, it now includes around 30,000 copies.
The foundation was formed by the collection of Edward Daniel Clarke , the first professor of mineralogy at the University of Cambridge , acquired at the beginning of the 19th century . Today it comprises about 50,000 steps.
