history

Monastery grounds

The monastery was founded in 2010 in the former aftercare building of the Schöneiche community. It is a daughter monastery of Wat Sanghathan in Bang Phai near Bangkok . In the early days, five monks lived there, including a German. They lived according to the strict rules of Theravada, so they are not allowed to have personal belongings, they are only allowed to eat what they receive as a donation, etc. The monks and their supporters were busy in the first few years to repair the burned-out building . They got help from the residents in the neighborhood.

The monastery is a place of residence for monks from the mother monastery who temporarily live in Germany. In 2015 the Abbot Phra Rachata presented the Schöneiche community with a donation for the refugees in the village.
