Jack O'Connell (born August 1, 1990 in Alvaston , Derby , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Jack O'Connell was best known in Germany for his role as James Cook in the British television series Skins - Hautnah and that of a teenager in the drama Eden Lake (2008).

He began his film and television career in 2005 when he took on a role in an episode of the soap opera Doctors . In the same year he starred in several episodes of the series The Bill . In 2006 he made his feature film debut in This Is England . Since then he has appeared in cinema and television productions.

In 2014 he played the lead role as the athlete and prisoner of war Louis Zamperini , the story of which the film tells, under the direction of Angelina Jolie in the war drama Unbroken . In 2017, he played the Czechoslovak resistance fighter Jan Kubiš in The Power of Evil , who carried out the assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich together with Jozef Gabčík .
