occupation

Little Fish is a romantic science fiction film directed by Chad Hartigan and first made available online to Tribeca Film Festival attendees on April 15, 2020. The film is based on a short story by Aja Gabel.

action

A pandemic, triggered by a virus attacking people's memories, is spreading around the world at an alarming rate. The disease is known as NIA or "neuroinflammatory disease" and suddenly makes people forget who they are or what they are doing, as in the case of a fisherman who forgets how to steer a ship and therefore swims home.

The disease also has consequences for the marriage of two newlyweds, when Jude succumbs to the suffering and begins to forget small things, such as where he left his keys or what disputes with his wife Emma were about. It has not yet been affected. Jude works as a photographer while Emma tries herself as a writer. During a phone call, she soon notices that she is also in danger of losing her mother to the NIA. One of her friends, a musician named Ben, not only forgets how to play music, but also doesn't recognize his own friend Samantha anymore.

Emma does not want to accept to see the man she loves and whom she married almost a year ago disappear before her eyes. Together they try to keep their memories alive of who they are and how they fell in love. When a potential antidote to NIA is discovered, Emma and Jude give it a try.

production

The film is based on a short story by Aja Gabel. Directed by Chad Hartigan . Fabel's short story was adapted for the film by Mattson Tomlin .

The leading roles of the newlyweds Jude and Emma were cast with Jack O'Connell and Olivia Cooke . Raúl Castillo plays Ben, who is his friend, the musician Soko, his girlfriend Samantha.

The film should celebrate its world premiere in mid-April 2020 as part of the Tribeca Film Festival . One month before the start of the festival, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and postponed to a previously unknown date. Nevertheless, the film was made available online from April 15-26, 2020, the festival's original time slot.
