Metin Diyadin (born February 16, 1968 in Trabzon ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Metin Diyadin began his professional football career at Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the summer of 1988 and played ten seasons. Only the 1994/95 season he spent as a loan player with league rivals Denizlispor .

For the 1998/99 season he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Here he never made the breakthrough as a regular player, but he was regularly used as a supplementary player in two seasons.

In the summer of 2000 he came to an agreement with the then second division club Göztepe SK . Here he reached the championship of the TFF 1st Lig with his team in his first season and thus the direct promotion to the Süper Lig . In his second season he was more of a supplementary player at Göztepe and made 13 league games.

For the season he left Göztepe for the second division Kayserispor . Here, too, he was more of a reservist and only played in four league games. At the end of the season he ended his active playing career.

Coaching career

Metin Diyadin became a youth coach at the Black Sea Club Ofspor following his playing career . After a season at Ofspor, he worked in the same position for two seasons at his old club Gençlerbirliği Ankara .

He then got his first position as head coach at the then third division and the second team of Gençlerbirliği Ankara at Gençlerbirliği Oftaş . Here he reached with a relatively young and inexperienced team in his first season the runner-up in the TFF 2nd Lig and thus direct promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . In his second season with Gençlerbirliği Oftaş the top of the table early on and kept this place in the table. On matchday 27 he fell out after a defeat with the club's management and then submitted his resignation. He was then replaced by his assistant coach Osman Özdemir . This defended the table lead in the remaining game days and managed with the championship of the TFF 1st Lig the direct promotion to the Süper Lig .

For the 2006/07 season he was hired by the second division club Eskişehirspor . Here, too, he occupied a promotion position with his new team relatively early and consolidated this position over the course of the season. In March 2008, he suspended the star of the team, Sergen Yalçın and refused to take him back to the team despite urging the club leadership. He was then dismissed from the club's management and replaced by Nenad Bijedić .

In the summer of 2008 he took over the second division club Çaykur Rizespor and trained them until the winter break. For the 2009/10 season he took over the position of assistant coach at Trabzonspor and certified Hugo Broos .

On March 23, 2011, he took over the post of head coach at the second division Orduspor and replaced the resigned Uğur Tütüneker . He led the team to win the playoffs and thus in the Süper Lig . In the Süper Lig, his team achieved good results at the beginning and thus always occupied single-digit positions. Towards the winter break, the team slipped into the lower half of the table. So Diyadin resigned from his post during the winter break and was replaced by Héctor Cúper .

On March 28, 2012, he took over the second division team Kasımpaşa Istanbul and replaced Uğur Tütüneker a second time . Also with this club he reached the playoff final of the TFF 1st Lig . Here they prevailed in overtime 2: 3 against Adanaspor and achieved promotion to the Süper Lig . On September 23, 2012, Diyadin was released.

In the summer of 2013 he was introduced as a coach by the first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . He signed a one-year contract with the club where he had been a player for almost ten years. After Diyadin could only collect four points with his team in the first eight match days, he was dismissed in October 2013.

In October 2014 he took over the third division club Göztepe Izmir . He led this club on the 33rd matchday, the penultimate matchday of the season, to the championship and thus to promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . In February 2016, he left this club after prior mutual agreement with the club's management.

In the 2016/17 season he was in charge of the second division Büyükşehir Gaziantepspor from November 2016 to February 2017 . For the 2017/18 season he was hired as the new head coach at the second division Giresunspor .
