Azar Karadaş (born August 9, 1981 in Nordfjordeid , Eid ) is a Norwegian football player who plays for Sogndal Fotball . He also has Turkish citizenship.

Career

The striker began his career with Brann Bergen in the Norwegian first division in 1999 . After a good two years he moved to league rivals Rosenborg Trondheim on March 13, 2001 . Because of this move, he even received some death threats from fans. Through his performances at Rosenborg, including two goals against Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup , various clubs from Europe quickly became aware of the talented striker. He received offers from Liverpool and Udinese Calcio . The decisive factor for a move abroad was Giovanni Trapattoni , who brought Karadaş to Benfica Lisbon in the 2004/2005 season .

In Portugal he won the club's first championship title after 11 years with Lisbon. But after a year they became dissatisfied with him, and Karadas moved on loan to Portsmouth FC in the English Premier League . After his return to Lisbon, a move back to Norway paved the way. However, the transfer failed due to Brann Bergen's lack of financial strength.

Karadas was loaned out for another year. He played in the 2006/2007 season at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 2. Bundesliga .

Between the end of August 2007 and September 2009 Karadaş played again for his hometown club Brann Bergen. The transfer fee that the club had to pay to its old club Benfica Lisbon is estimated at 3.5 million Norwegian kroner. Since September 1, 2009 he has been playing for Kasımpaşa Istanbul in the Süper Lig .

After three years in Turkey , he returned to his Norwegian homeland in summer 2012 and signed with the first division club Sogndal Fotball .
