Emrah Eren (born November 13, 1978 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish football player.

Career

Club career

Emrah Eren started club football in the youth of Gaziosmanpaşaspor . In the summer of 1995 he moved to İstanbulspor with a professional contract and for a large transfer fee . İstanbulspor was bought by billionaire Cem Uzan at that time and is trying to create a powerful competition to the three big Istanbul clubs Galatasaray Istanbul , Fenerbahçe Istanbul and Beşiktaş Istanbul by buying stars and talent . In this context, Eren was also bought as a great talent at the time.

At İstanbulspor, talent was not included in the squad. To enable him match practice, he was loaned to the second division Kartalspor for the second half of the 1995/96 season.

For the 1996/97 season Eren moved to the then second division Adanaspor . The reason for this change was the fact that Cem Uzan was also active as a patron and often moved players back and forth between these two clubs. At Adanaspor, he won a regular place straight away. Here one reached in the 1997/98 season the runner-up of the TFF 1st Lig and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . In the 1998/99 season he became one of the shooting stars of the Süper Lig.

After he was a sought-after player in the 1999/00 transfer period, he moved to Galatasaray Istanbul . The main reason for the transfer was the special request from coach Fatih Terim , who wanted to see Eren in his team. Terim wanted to gently shape the unedited player into a complete player, as with other stars of his team. He saw in Eren an ideal line-up for the modern right-back in the back four . In his first season at Galatasaray he had 13 games, including the UEFA Champions League match against Hertha BSC on October 26, 1999. At the end of the season, Eren won the UEFA Cup with Galatasaray , won the Super Lig and won the Turkish Cup . At the end of the season, his sponsor Terim fell out with the club's management and left the club. The new coach Mircea Lucescu did not share his predecessor's belief in Eren's qualities. So he sorted him out after the pre-season camp and put him on the list of players who are allowed to leave the club on loan.

Eren then spent a season on loan from his former club İstanbulspor. Here he came continuously to appearances as a regular player. He also spent the next season on loan, this time with Gaziantepspor . Here he was a reservist.

After his contract with Galatasaray had expired, he moved to the reigning Turkish Cup winner Kocaelispor in the summer of 2002/03 on a free transfer . Here he got a regular place straight away. His club ended the season in last place in the table and was relegated to the TFF 1st Lig .

Eren was released from Kocaelispor contractually. He had offers from several top division clubs, including Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor . Because of the better perspective, he moved to the traditional Turkish club Trabzonspor on a free transfer. Here he got a regular place straight away under the coach Samet Aybaba . During the winter break, Ziya Doğan replaced Aybaba. Under this coach Eren was massively promoted and developed into a leading player. With his team they reached the runner-up at the end of the season and won the Turkish Football Cup . Also in the next season you could win the runner-up. During the 2004/05 season, Galatasaray tried unsuccessfully to sign Eren again. At Galatasaray, Fatih Terim had meanwhile taken over the coaching position and wanted to see his former player in his team. The transfer failed because of the excessively high transfer fee and ended with a dispute between the two clubs.

In the 2005/06 season Trabzonspor signed Vahid Halilhodžić as head coach. Eren was regularly used under this trainer, but the trainer put him on the sales list during the winter break. His old sponsor Ziya Doğan noticed this fact and brought him to his new place of work at Malatyaspor .

After Malatyaspor missed relegation at the end of the season, Eren separated from this club and agreed for the upcoming season with Çaykur Rizespor . Here, too, he quickly established himself as a regular player and played two seasons continuously. After his club relegated at the end of the 2007/08 season, Eren left this club.

He then played for one season each with Gaziantepspor and Giresunspor .

For the season, Ziya Doğan brought him to his new place of work for the promoted Konyaspor . After Doğan was fired for the second half of the season, the new coach Yılmaz Vural put him on the sales list. So Eren moved at the special request of Hamza Hamzaoğlu to the second division Denizlispor and received a contract until the end of the season. Hamzaoğlu resigned from his position just ten days after Eren was signed.

For the 2011/12 season he moved to the new place of work of Hamza Hamzaoğlu for the second division club Akhisar Belediyespor . Here one completely surprisingly reached the championship of the TFF 1st Lig and thus the direct promotion to the Süper Lig . Eren was awarded a large share of this success as one of the outstanding players on his team. After his expiring contract was not extended in the summer of 2014, Eren left the club after three years of service.

National team career

Emrah Eren started playing for the Turkish national youth teams at an early age. From the U-15 he went through almost all youth teams.

With the Olympic selection of the Turkish national team, he took part in the Mediterranean Games in 1997 and won the silver medal. Eren was only on the bench during this tournament.
