Sezer Öztürk (born November 3, 1985 in Velbert ) is a former Turkish soccer player who also has German citizenship.

Career

In the club

Before 1996, Öztürk was active for Türkgücu Velbert, SSVg Velbert , TVD Velbert and Rot-Weiss Essen , and from 1996 to 2005 he played in the youth department of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He made it to the final of the German championship in 2002/03 with the Bayer 04 youth team. In the 2004/05 season he was substituted on seven times in Bundesliga games under Leverkusen's coach Klaus Augenthaler .

Before the 2005/06 season, Öztürk was loaned out to the Belgian cup winner Germinal Beerschot Antwerp for one year to gain match practice there. In January 2006 Sezer Öztürk moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , but after he couldn't find a place there, left the club at the end of the season for the Turkish first division club Vestel Manisaspor . For the second half of the 2009/10 season he moved to the league competitor from Eskişehirspor for 1,600,000 TL (then about 850,000 €) and joined the club until May 2012. After a short time he prevailed here and became a regular in midfield.

For the 2011/12 season Öztürk moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Fenerbahçe had to pay the equivalent of about 2.75 million euros; In addition, Abdülkadir Kayalı was to be exchanged for Eskişehirspor and Fenerbahçe would have to give 50 percent of the transfer fee to Eskişehirspor in the event of a resale. Kayalı refused a move to Eskişehirspor, so the transfer was completed with a changed condition. The first season at Fenerbahçe, Öztürk was mostly on the bench due to injury and played six league games throughout the season.

On July 8, 2013, Öztürk's move to Beşiktaş Istanbul was announced.

On the last day of the 2014 summer transfer period, he was loaned to the first division club Istanbul Başakşehir . After only half a season, Öztürk left this club and was loaned by Beşiktaş to his old club Eskişehirspor for the second half of the 2014/15 season.

National team

Öztürk was vice European champion with the U-19 national team of Turkey. In 2010 he was nominated for the first time for the Turkish national team , under the new coach Guus Hiddink , for preparation in the USA, but did not complete an A international match.
