Federico Cardinal Tedeschini (born October 12, 1873 in Antrodoco , Province of Rieti , Italy , † November 2, 1959 in Rome ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Federico Tedeschini received his philosophical and theological training in Rieti and Rome. He received on 25 July 1896, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then for five years worked as a lecturer in the Department of Canonical Theology at the Seminary of Rieti. In 1903 he became the papal secret chamberlain , in 1908 the house prelate of His Holiness . From 1908 to 1914 he performed various tasks in the Vatican State Secretariat .

On March 31, 1921, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . the titular archbishop of Naupactus and the apostolic nuncio in Spain . The Pope consecrated him bishop on May 5th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Battista Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano , Almsier of His Holiness , and Agostino Zampini , Sacristan of His Holiness . Pope Pius XI appointed him cardinal in pectore in 1933 , the publication as cardinal priest with the titular church Santa Maria della Vittoria took place on December 16, 1935. On February 25, Pius XI appointed him. to cardinal datar . Federico Tedeschini participated in the conclave of 1939 , in which Pope Pius XII. was elected, and represented the Pope as papal legate on several occasions in Europe and South America . Pope Pius XII appointed him on April 28, 1951 Cardinal Bishop of Frascati . Federico Tedeschini was also a participant in the conclave in 1958 , in which Pope John XXIII. was chosen.

He died in Rome on November 2, 1959 and was buried in the Vatican Grottoes .

Cardinal Giuseppe D'Annibale was his uncle.
