Massimo Cardinal Massimi (born April 10, 1877 in Rome , † March 6, 1954 ibid) was an Italian cardinal curia of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

After studying Philosophy and Catholic Theology, Massimo Massimi received the sacrament of ordination in 1900 . He then worked for eight years as a pastor in various parishes in Rome, before working at the Court of Justice of the Roman Rota from 1908 .

In 1911 he was His Holiness ' s secret chamberlain , 1915 auditor and 1926-1935 dean of the Roman Rota. In December 1935 Pope Pius XI took him . as cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santa Maria in Portico in the college of cardinals and one year later made him head of the Pontifical Commission for the Codification of Canon Law of the Eastern Churches . In 1939 Massimo Massimi became president of the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of Legal Texts . In 1946 he was elevated to cardinal priest pro hac vice while retaining his title diakonia and from that year worked as prefect of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature .

He died in Rome in March 1954 and was buried in the Campo Verano cemetery. His remains were transferred to the Church of Santa Maria in Portico in 1976 .
