Frank Pingel (born May 9, 1964 in Aarhus ) is a former Danish football player on the position of center forward .
Life
Pingel began his career as a professional football player in 1983 at IK Skovbacken and moved to Aarhus GF at the beginning of 1984 , where he was under contract for the next five years until the end of 1988 and with whom he won the Danish championship in the 1986 season and in the next two seasons (1987 and 1988) won the Danish cup competition twice.
In January 1989 Pingel moved abroad for the first time and spent a half season at Newcastle United , for which he scored a goal in the English First Division . After the Magpies suffered relegation at the end of the 1988/89 season , Pingel returned to his homeland and played for Brondby IF in the following two years , with whom he won two more championship titles in the 1990 season and the shortened 1991 season and stood for the Qualified in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup semi-finals , where Brondby lost 0-0 and 2-1 to AS Roma . To this day, it is the club's greatest success on an international level.
In September 1991 Pingel was signed by TSV 1860 Munich , who played in the second division again after nine years of abstinence from the Bayern League . On the ninth game day of the 1991/92 season , Pingel had the much-cited "debut made to measure" when he made his debut in the lion jersey on September 15, 1991 and headed 1-0 up against FC Homburg in the tenth minute of the game met, who could be defeated 3-0. His other goals for 1860 were scored by Pingel on October 12, 1991, in the interim 3-1 (66th minute) in the 3-2 away win against VfB Leipzig , and on December 8, 1991 to 2-0 (76th) at 3-0 - Home win against Rot-Weiß Erfurt , on March 14, 1992 for the 2-0 final score (41st) at FSV Mainz 05 , on 22 March 1992 for the 2-0 final score (81st) against Halle and on April 25th 1992 to the 1-1 final (62nd) again against Mainz 05. Nevertheless, his separation from 1860 already became apparent in this game. After Pingel had already been sent off the field during his previous assignment on April 4, 1992 against VfB Leipzig (0-2), he saw the red card in the game against Mainz in the 76th minute because of indiscipline , which resulted in a throw with his trainer Karsten Wettberg . Because 1860 was also relegated at the end of the season, Pingel returned to Brondby.
Between 1993 and 1995 Pingel was in Turkey for two years , where he was under contract with Bursaspor in 1993/94 and with Fenerbahçe Istanbul in 1994/95 . After a short stint at Lille OSC at the end of 1995, Pingel ended his active career with his "hometown club" Aarhus Fremad .
