Scomberomorus multiradiatus is a sea-dwelling predatory fish in the Scombridae family. Knownas a sport fish, it plays a minor role in commercial fishing.

The first dorsal fin consists of 16 to 19 hard rays , the second dorsal fin of 21 to 25 soft rays . This is followed by seven to nine rafts. The anal fin has 25 to 29 soft rays, followed by six to nine flippers. The caudal fin is typical of a fast swimming open water fish, large and deeply split. The pelvic fins are very small and have 20 to 23 soft rays. The base of the pectoral fin is below the center of the body.

The body is spindle-shaped and quite high back compared to those of most other Scomberomorus species. With a maximum length of 35 centimeters, Scomberomorus multiradiatus is the smallest species of the genus. The flanks are silver and not patterned, the back is darker. There is no swim bladder . The sideline is slightly wavy.

Distribution and way of life

Scomberomorus multiradiatus is only found in the Gulf of Papua . Nothing is known about the biology of this species. It is probably a pelagic predatory fish.
