Kenneth "Kenny" Miller (born December 23, 1979 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player and coach.

Career

society

Miller's career began at Hutchinson Vale BC, a club in Edinburgh that has already produced Gary Naysmith , Steven Caldwell , Gary Caldwell and Derek Riordan .

Miller made his breakthrough when he moved to Hibernian Edinburgh in 1997. He played for the Hibs for four years and was their top scorer with 13 goals in the 1999/2000 season. He then moved to the Glasgow Rangers for £ 2million . In 2001 he was brought in by the then English second division team Wolverhampton Wanderers , whom he scored with 19 league goals in the English Premier League in the 2002/03 season - he scored a total of 24 competitive goals in the season. In 2004, the Scottish striker finally scored his first goal in the English top flight that led to victory over Manchester United . However, the Wanderers immediately dismounted.

For the 2006/07 season, Miller moved from Wolverhampton Wanderers to the reigning Scottish champions and major Rangers rivals Celtic Glasgow . This makes Miller only the third player (alongside Alfie Conn Jr. and Maurice Johnston ) since World War II to wear both the green and white Celtic jersey and the blue of the Rangers. His return to the Scottish Premier League was hotly debated by both Celtic fans and Rangers supporters. With his team he won the Scottish championship and cup, as well as the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions League . In the round of 16 they were eliminated just in the second leg after extra time against eventual Champions League winners AC Milan .

On the last day of the summer 2007 transfer window , Miller moved from Celtic to England's Premier League promoted Derby County for a £ 3 million transfer .

In June 2008 Miller decided to go back to scoring goals for the Glasgow Rangers, making him only the second player (after Willie Kivlichan ) to move from Rangers to Celtic Glasgow and back to Rangers. In March 2010, he shot his team to the league cup, although they only played nine in the last 19 minutes against FC St. Mirren .

In January 2011, Miller moved to reigning Turkish champions Bursaspor for a transfer fee of around 470,000 euros , where he signed a contract until June 2013. At the end of January 2011 Miller celebrated in his second league game, this time from the start, his goal premiere for the green-whites in the 2-0 win against Galatasaray .

Since Miller and his family did not manage to get at home in Turkey, he asked to be released from the club after the season was over. Bursaspor then put him on the transfer list. On July 26, 2011, he moved to English second division club Cardiff City for around £ 870,000 . His former club, the Rangers , also made a bid, but lost. In the summer of 2012, Miller moved to Major League Soccer for the Vancouver Whitecaps . On May 4, 2014, it was announced that Kenny Miller and the Vancouver Whitecaps are terminating their contract by mutual agreement so that Miller has more time for his wife and children. From mid-2014 to 2018 he was back under contract with the Glasgow Rangers.

For the 2018/19 season he took over the post of player-coach at first division promoted FC Livingston . Already in mid-August 2018, the club and Miller separated again because the club wanted Miller to concentrate on the coaching office, which the latter refused. He then moved to Dundee as a player, with whom he was relegated at the end of the 2018/19 season. In June 2019, the contract in Dundee was terminated.

He received international attention in June 2003 in the national team, for whom he equalized in the European Championship qualification for the UEFA Euro 2004 in a 1-1 draw against reigning vice-world champions Germany .

On February 9, 2011 Miller ran for the first time for the Bravehearts as a team captain in the Nations Cup against Northern Ireland , he also scored a goal in the 3-0 victory.

On August 23, 2013, it was announced that Miller had retired from the national team.
