José Manuel Lara (born May 21, 1977 in Valencia ) is a Spanish professional golfer on the European Tour .

Career

As an amateur, he won the European Junior Amateur Championship and the Spanish Amateur Open Championship in 1996 and represented his country at the Eisenhower Trophy that same year .

Lara became a professional golfer in 1997 and in the following year won his first tournament victory, the Warsaw Golf Open , an event of the second level ( Challenge Tour ). After some ups and downs, Lara has positioned herself on the European Tour since the 2003 season and continuously improved from 93rd place to 33rd place in the European Tour Order of Merit 2005. Lara already had two second places, at The Celtic Manor Wales Open and the Mallorca Classic , before his first victory on the European Tour in November 2006, the UBS Hong Kong Open , a tournament that is already counted as part of the 2007 season. In September 2010 he won the Austrian GolfOpen .

He is a good friend of Sergio García , with whom he often played in the amateur field.
