Chantal Goya (* 10. June 1942 in Saigon as Chantal Deguerre ) is a French actress and singer .

Career

Chantal de Guerre was born on a plantation in Saigon. She is the oldest in a family with five children and the distant cousin of actor Claude Rich . The family left French Indochina in 1946 at the beginning of the independence conflict. The family moved to Remiremont in the Vosges. In Paris, she did not pass the Abitur and went to England, where she received a diploma in English. The meeting with Jean-Jacques Debout in 1964 was a turning point. Because she looked like the child in Francisco Goya's painting Don Manuel Osorio Manrique de Zúñiga , she chose the stage name Goya. She married Debout in 1966. She becomes a model for Mademoiselle Age Tendre magazine , in which we discover Chantal as a model. Debout composed songs for her to compose, including C'est bien Bernard le plus vinard and Une écharpe, une rose , She appears on television shows. Jean-Luc Godard noticed her and cast her for his film Masculin - Feminin or: The Children of Marx and Coca-Cola , which appeared in 1966 and in which she played the lead role alongside Jean-Pierre Léaud .

Film career

The big start with Godard's film opened a film career for her. In 1967 she plays Melanie in the village posse when Ludwig moves into maneuvers alongside Hansi Kraus . In her military clothes she is the sister of Heidelinde Weis , who is courted by a lieutenant ( Claus Wilcke ). This is followed by the supporting role of Monique alongside Jacqueline Bisset and Marc Porel in A Summer in France . She gets a more important role from Jean-Daniel Pollet : In love makes fun, love hurts she is the provincial Arlette, who is impressed by Bernadette Lafont and becomes a prostitute and overlooks the fact that Lafont's film brother Claude Melki secretly loves her. Pierre Tchernia casts her in 1974 for Abgetaucht ( Les Gaspards ) as Michel Serrault's film daughter . Didier Kaminka's anarcho-comedy Trop c'est trop brings her image change : three young women (Chantal Goya, Claude Jade and Nicole Jamet ) seduce three bachelors. It remains her last film role, after which there are cameos as herself in Le temps de vacances (1979) and Absolument fabuleux (2001).

singer

She made her debut as a singer with Adieu les jolis foulards , followed by Bécassine , Dou ni dou ni day , J'ai le cœur en joie, j'ai le cœur en peine and C'est bien Bernard . In France she is known as the singer of numerous famous children's songs, most of which were written by her husband, Jean-Jacques Debout. Very popular at the beginning of her career, she was later heavily criticized for the naivety of her repertoire. On a television show in 1985, she was humiliated and ridiculed by the audience (mostly parents) and the organizers.

After several years of severe depression, she came back and is now singing again for adult fans and their children. As a symbol of gay culture, she is also invited to various gay bars across the country.
