Jean-Jacques Debout (born March 9, 1940 in Paris ) is a French chansonnier , lyricist, composer and theater organizer. He is considered to be an essential representative of French chanson.

Life

When he worked for his godfather Raoul Breton, the publisher of Charles Trenet and Charles Aznavour , he met Mireille and he was introduced to their 'Petit Conservatoire'.

In 1958 Les boutons dorés were recorded. This song, written by Maurice Vidalin and Jacques Datin, was a great success.

In 1962 he appeared as a guest artist in Marlene Dietrich's play at the 'Olympia'. He wrote Cette nuit-là for her ; a song that she sang not only in German, but also in English ( This World Of Ours ) and in French. He has also composed Pour moi la vie va commencer (1963) for Johnny Hallyday and Comme un garçon (1968) for Sylvie Vartan . In 1973 he personally achieved great success on stage with Redeviens Virginie .

He is married to Chantal Goya , for whom he composes musicals and TV events.
