Turgay Bahadır (born January 15, 1984 in Vienna ) was an Austrian - Turkish football player .
Career
society
Turgay Bahadır began his career in the youth teams of SC Red Star Penzing and the traditional club FC Vienna . With the Vienna Bahadır was in the 1999/00 Viennese youth champion. The then Rapid BNZ coach Andreas Heraf became aware of him and brought him to Rapid.
When Heraf moved to Austria Lustenau for the 2003/04 season, he took Bahadır to the first division . At Austria Lustenau he advanced to Austria's U-21 national team . For the 2006/07 season he followed his coach Andreas Heraf to SC Schwanenstadt again .
A year later, the career jump to the Turkish first division club Kayserispor followed . With this club Bahadır was fifth in the 2007/08 season in the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup winners in 2008 and was involved in the most successful season in the club's history to date.
In summer 2009 he moved to Bursaspor within the Süper Lig . With this club led the Süper Lig almost the entire season and delivered a thrilling head-to-head race with Fenerbahçe Istanbul until the last matchday, which they won. By winning the championship, the club wrote Turkish football history by becoming the second Anatolian club Trabzonspor to break the championship hegemony of the three big Istanbul clubs Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş . Bahadır was an important player, especially in the championship season, and like the entire team was one of the most legendary players in his club. In the following two seasons he and his team were once third in the table of the Süper Lig and once Turkish Cup finalist .
For the 2012/13 season he left Bursaspor and moved to league rivals Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor .
In the last week of the 2013 summer transfer period, Bahadir moved to the first division club Kayseri Erciyesspor .
For the 2014/15 season, Bahadır signed on with league rivals Kardemir Karabükspor and worked again with Tolunay Kafkas , who brought him to Kayserispor in Turkey in 2007 . In the winter transfer period 2014/15 he left this club again. Already for the next second half of the season he moved to the second division Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor .
In January 2016 he returned to Austria and continued his career where it began, with First Vienna FC 1894.
National team
In 2003, Bahadır was part of the Austrian U-21 national team. In 2008, Turkey wanted to call up the Austro-Turkish dual nationality to their national soccer team, but this was not possible according to the FIFA regulations at the time due to their earlier involvement with the Austrian youth team. Bahadır said he would like to play for Austria; he was also observed on behalf of the ÖFB, and his club was once notified by fax that Bahadır was on the list for the ÖFB selection (for the friendly against Turkey, of all things). However, the ÖFB did not contact Bahadır personally. A change in FIFA regulations has allowed players who already had dual citizenship at the time of their appearance in a youth team to be called up for the national team of the other country since 2010. Guus Hiddink took advantage of this and called up Bahadır for Turkey: On May 22, 2010, he made his debut for the Turkish national soccer team in a friendly against the Czech Republic .
