Career
society
The left-back started his career in his home country with the Lobi Stars in 2003. It soon became clear that he was a very talented football player. For this reason, he moved to Olympique Marseille in January 2005 to replace the migrated Bixente Lizarazu . Taiwo immediately gained a regular place with the southern French.
From the 2011/12 season he was under contract with the Italian club AC Milan . However, he only made four appearances in the first half of the season. On January 24, 2012, he was loaned to the Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League for six months . After returning to Milan, Taiwo was loaned to Dynamo Kiev on July 31, 2012 with an option to buy for the 2012/13 season.
In the summer of 2013, Taiwo moved to the Turkish Süper Lig at Bursaspor . He signed a three-year contract here. After Taiwo was used almost continuously in the 2013/14 season, he was no longer found a role in the squad planning by the new head coach Şenol Güneş in the 2014/15 season and remained without a competitive game. At the end of April 2015, following a mutual agreement with Bursaspor, Taiwo's contract, which was valid until summer 2016, was terminated early in return for a payment of € 360,000.
National team
Taiwo was a junior international player in Nigeria and reached the final at the 2005 Junior World Cup in the Netherlands with the selection of his country, which was lost 2-1 to Argentina. Taye Taiwo scored two goals and was named the tournament's third best player after John Obi Mikel and Lionel Messi .
In 2004 he was called up to the senior national team of Nigeria.
Style of play
He is often compared to Roberto Carlos because of his enormous shooting power, which makes his free kicks so dangerous . In the semifinals of the Coupe de France against Stade Rennes, for example, he shot a free kick into the net at 130 km / h.
