Career
Birol Hikmet began club football at the age of 14 in the youth of Zeytinburnuspor and then played in the youth teams of Eroğluspor and Güngören Belediyespor . From the 2000/01 season he was also trained with the professional team at the then second division club Güngören Belediyespor. So it happened that he was included in the squad for some league games and made his debut for the professional team on May 20, 2001 against Gaziosmanpaşaspor . In the 2001/02 season he came in the same way to ten second division appearances. For the 2002/03 season he received a professional contract from his club and was finally taken over into the professional team. He immediately won a place in the starting XI. Here he played five and a half seasons.
In the winter break of the 2006/07 season he moved to the second division Eskişehirspor . With his new club, he was promoted to the Süper Lig in his second season . Hikmet played a role in the squad plans for the Süper Lig, but he still made a few appearances during the season. So he dissolved his contract during the winter break and left the club.
At Diyarbakırspor he stayed until the end of the season and also made it to the Süper Lig with his new club .
For the upcoming season 2009/10 he dissolved his contract with Diyarbakırspor and moved to the second division Karabükspor . With Karabükspor he won the championship of the TFF 1st Lig and thus the promotion to the Süper Lig . Thus he succeeded in three seasons in a row promotion to the Süper Lig. After the promotion, he continued to play in the Süper Lig for three seasons as a regular player and at times became the player with the most first division appearances for Karabükspor. He was later replaced by his teammate İlhan Parlak .
In the last week of the 2013 summer transfer period, Hikmet moved to second division side Adana Demirspor . During the next winter break, Hikmet left Demirspor and switched to Gaziantepspor .
