Karacabey , until 1928 Mihalıç (from Greek mixalitsa ), is a town in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Bursa and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Bursa (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1986 . The city is located about 60 kilometers west of the center of Bursa on the Marmara Sea .

The district is located in the west of the province. It borders in the east on Mudanya and Nilüfer , in the south on Mustafakemalpaşa , in the west on the province of Balıkesir and in the north on the Marmara Sea. The E 90 runs through the district town and the district and , coming from Çanakkale in the west, continues to Ankara via Bursa . Lake Uluabat Gölü is located in the southeast of the district . In the north of the district, on the coast of the Marmara Sea, lies the Karadağ mountain range . The place is named after Celalettin Karacabey İbn-i Abdullah, a military leader of Murad II , the previous name was Mihaliç until 1928, the ancient name was Miletopolis .
