Orhaneli is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Bursa and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Bursa (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1986 . The place is about 35 kilometers south of the center of Bursa .
The district is located in the south of the province. It borders in the west on Mustafakemalpaşa , in the north on Nilüfer and Osmangazi , in the east on Keles , in the south-east on Harmancık and in the south-west on Büyükorhan . The Orhaneli Çayı (also Kocasu ) flows north of the district town and flows further west into the Aliova Çayı . The Orhaneli Çayı is dammed in the west of the district to the reservoir Çınarcık Barajı .
Earlier names of the place were Adırnas (until 1928), Atranos and in Byzantine times Adraneia or Adrianoi .
