The Caribou Lake is a lake in Thunder Bay District in the western Canadian province of Ontario .
Caribou Lake is located in the area of the Canadian Shield about 30 km northwest of Lake Nipigon . In the northwest the lake borders the Wabakimi Provincial Park .
Caribou Lake has an area of about 93 km². Its length in NE-SW direction is 35 km. The Caribou Lake is very indented. It has several side bays and several larger islands. The maximum water depth is over 60 m. The Caribou River drains the lake to Smoothrock Lake to the west .
The lake is accessible for fishing tourists by car from Thunder Bay via Ontario Highway 527 to nearby Armstrong . From there an 11 km long slope leads to the lake shore. The following types of fish are caught in Caribou Lake: pike , eyeglasses and American char .
