Koray Gençerler (born April 30, 1978 ) is a Turkish football referee .

Career

Gençerler passed his referee examination in his parents' hometown, Manisa , in 1994 at the age of 16 .

He made his debut in the highest Turkish soccer league, the Süper Lig , on September 16, 2007. Gençerler led the match between Istanbul BB and Bursaspor .

Due to poor performance in the 2012/13 Süper Lig season , he was relegated to the TFF 1. Lig and has since whistled games in the second division and, irregularly, also in the third division.

Private

Gençerler was born in Germany in 1978, his parents were guest workers at the time . In 1980 the whole family immigrated back to Turkey . He completed his schooling in his hometown of Manisa and then moved to Mersin , where he attended the Mersin University the degree program Hotel - and Tourism Management studied.

Together with his cousin Serkan Gençerler , they both signed up for the referee course in 1994. Serkan Gençerler is assistant referee until the Süper Lig (as of the 2014/15 season).
