Pavel Tobiáš (born January 10, 1955 in České Budějovice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
Tobíaš played in his youth for Sokol Včelna and Škoda České Budějovice. In the 1974/75 and 1975/76 seasons he did his military service with Dukla Tábor and VTJ Slaný. Then the defender moved to Dynamo České Budějovice , where he ended his active career in 1986. In the 1985/86 season Tobíaš came to his only three inserts in the 1st Czechoslovak League.
Coaching career
From 1984 to 1990 Tobíaš trained in the junior division of Dynamo České Budějovice, then he was assistant coach for three years before he became the main coach of the club, which has since been renamed SK České Budějovice, for the 1993 season. He led the team with the exception of the 1995/96 season, in which it was eleventh, always in the upper half of the table.
In early October 1997 Tobíaš František inherited Cipro on the coaching chair of Slavia Prague , but had to vacate it in April 1998 for Petr Rada . He returned to České Budějovice and led the relegated back to the Gambrinus League , where he managed to stay with the team in 1999/00, but his contract was not extended.
In September 2000, Tobíaš took over FC Stavo Artikel Brno , but only reached a disappointing thirteenth place with the team. More than half a year without work he returned to his former club SK České Budějovice in March 2002 in the 2nd division and managed to get promoted again immediately. In the 2002/03 season the team was thirteenth, in 2003/04 eighth. After only five points from the first eight games of the 2004/05 season, he was replaced by Robert Žák .
About two months later, Tobíaš was the coach of relegation-threatened FK Marila Příbram , he led the team to ninth place. After a botched start to the 2006/07 season, Tobíaš was released in September 2006. At the end of August 2008 Tobíaš returned to the coaching chair of Dynamo České Budějovice. In October 2009 Tobíaš was sacked after a 5-0 loss in the Czech Cup to Sparta Prague .
