Robert Žák (born May 6, 1966 in Strakonice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
Robert Žák began his professional career in the 1987/88 season with Slavia Prague . At the beginning of 1991 the midfielder moved to SKP Spartak Hradec Králové , after only six months he moved on to the Portuguese first division club FC Penafiel . In October 1991 he returned to Hradec Králové , played only one game there and went to SK České Budějovice . There Žák completed a total of 39 first division games.
In the summer of 1994 he moved to FC Příbram in the 2nd division . After the collaboration between FC Příbram and Dukla Prague Žák played for the former army team in 1996/97 and helped her return to the Gambrinus League . He then moved to FK Ústí nad Labem , which was excluded from the competition due to financial problems before the start of the 2nd division. In the second half of the 1997/98 season Žák played for FC Bohemians Prague and then ended his career at the age of 32.
Coaching career
Robert Žák worked from 1998 to 2004 as an assistant coach at Marila Příbram . In the 2004/05 season he got a chance as head coach in České Budějovice . He took over the team before the 9th matchday from Pavel Tobiáš , she was third from last with only five points. Žák could not improve this record and had to make way for František Cipro after the 20th match day . He had only got seven points and passed the team in last place in the table.
In the 2006/07 season Robert Žák was head of the youth department at FK Siad Most, for the 2007/08 season he took over as head coach of the first division team after the previous coach Zdeněk Ščasný could not identify with the new club policy. In May 2009 Žák was released from his duties in Most, for the 2009/10 season he took over the FK Bohemians Prague in the Gambrinus League. There he was released in August 2009. For the 2010/11 season Žák took over the coaching position at FK Litvínov.
