Libor Došek (born April 24, 1978 in Brno , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech football player .

Career

Libor Došek played in his youth for FC Zbrojovka Brno , which was renamed FC Boby Brno in 1992. In 1997 he was loaned to the second division club FC Synot , for whom the striker made 27 games and scored nine goals. He returned to Brno, played twice for the first division team and was loaned to FC Synot again. Došek scored three goals in eleven games. In the winter break of the 1998/99 season he moved to Chmel Blšany where he completed 32 games in one year, scoring five goals. At the beginning of 2000 he finally returned to Brno and earned a regular place there. The 1.99 meter high striker scored 29 times in 102 encounters.

In 2000 he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney with the Czech Republic . In the decisive group game against Cameroon he missed a big chance, this mistake paved the way for the later gold medalist to the quarter-finals.

Three months earlier he had won the silver medal at the European Championships in Slovakia with the Czech U21 team .

In the summer of 2003 it looked like he would switch to the Russian first division club FK Rostow , but at the last moment the transfer failed. In early 2004 Došek went to Slovan Liberec where he came to 30 games and seven goals in a year and a half. In August 2005 Došek was signed by Sparta Prague , where he won the Czech Cup in 2006 .

At the end of January 2009, Došek switched to the Greek club Skoda Xanthi on loan . For the 2009/10 season, the tall attacker returned to Sparta, but was only in the squad of the B-team, for which he completed two games. In January 2010 Došek went to FK Teplice .

Private

His father Libor Došek senior played for FC Zbrojovka Brno , from 1976 to 1983 in the 1st Czechoslovak League. In 1978 he became Czechoslovakian champion. His mother is responsible for ticket sales at 1. FC Brno . Because of his size, he is often compared to Jan Koller . He is not related to the soccer players and twins Lukáš Došek and Tomáš Došek .
