Adolf Scherer (born May 5, 1938 in Vrútky ) is a former Czechoslovak soccer player of Carpathian German origin.

Scherer was one of the best strikers in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and 1960s, and his shooting technique was particularly outstanding.

He started at Lokomotíva Vrútky. In 1957 he went to ČH Bratislava (Červená hviezda - Red Star) , with whom he became Czechoslovak football champion in 1959. In 1961/62 he was the top scorer with 24 goals . At the 1962 World Cup in Chile , where Czechoslovakia was runner-up, Scherer scored three goals in six games, including in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. In 1965 he moved to Lokomotíva Košice , in 1967 to VSS Košice .

In 1969 he got the opportunity to move abroad and went to Olympique Nîmes . After four years he returned to Czechoslovakia and played for Strojárne Martin. But he only lasted there for half a year. He was invited to an exhibition game by Olympique Nimes in 1973 and then stayed in France. In 1975 Scherer ended his career at Olympique Avignon . Scherer scored 128 goals in the Czechoslovak League. Because of his emigration, he was disregarded by the communist regime, his achievements remained unappreciated.

For the Czechoslovak national team “Dolfi” scored 22 times in 36 games.
