The FK Inter Bratislava is or was a Slovak football club from the capital Bratislava .

history

A sports club was established in the Apollo refinery in 1940, and a football section was not established until five years later. In 1949 the club was renamed Sokol Apollo and in 1952 DŠO Iskra Slovnaft, after the new name of the refinery. Ten years later, the entire first team moved from Červená Hviezda Bratislava ("Red Star") to Slovnaft, which was renamed TJ Internacionál Bratislava in 1966.

With the exception of the 1972/73 and 1986/87 seasons, Inter always played in the Czechoslovak first division. The club won the Slovak Cup in 1984, 1988 and 1990 . A player from Inter, Ladislav Jurkemik, also played in the squad of the victorious Czechoslovak national team during the 1976 European Championship in Yugoslavia .

In the Slovak league , Inter played for a long time. The turn of the millennium was particularly successful: In 2000 and 2001, Inter won both the championship and the cup. However, things then quickly went downhill for the team, in the 2006/07 season the club finally rose from the Corgoň league to the second Slovak division.

Inter should be promoted back to the Corgoň liga in the 2009/10 season; However, the A-team was dissolved on June 18, 2009 and merged with the club FK Senica from the city of the same name , which is also the legal successor. The junior teams continue to exist and are owned by a community of citizens, a former Inter Bratislava fan club . At the end of April 2010, a new A-team was founded by this community, but it first played in the lowest 5th division and was not able to play in the former home stadium Pasienky. In May 2011, Inter was promoted to the 4th division.
