Ladislav Jurkemik (born July 20, 1953 in Jacovce ) is a former Slovak football player and current football coach . For Czechoslovakia , with which he was European champion in 1976, he played 57 international matches.
Player career
Ladislav Jurkemik first played for Jacovce, then for Kablo Topoľčany. The defender moved to Inter Bratislava in 1972 , where he would spend most of his career. In the next few years Jurkemik, whose strengths included playing with the head, shooting from a distance and keeping track of the game, developed into one of the best central defenders in the Czechoslovak League. Jurkemik made his debut in the Czechoslovak national team on June 7, 1975 in a 0-0 draw against Austria in the Vienna Prater Stadium . He was absent from the next international match, but from October 1975 he was used regularly. Ladislav Jurkemik celebrated his greatest success at the 1976 European Championships , which Czechoslovakia won. In the final against the Federal Republic of Germany , he only played the last ten minutes, but scored the important 4-3 on penalties . After the European Championship in 1980, in which Czechoslovakia won the bronze medal and he scored the goal for the interim 1-0 in the game for third place against Italy, Jurkemik moved to Dukla Banská Bystrica for one season and then returned to Bratislava . He also played in the 1982 World Cup, which was disappointing for the Czechoslovaks . Juremik ended his international career with a 1-1 draw against Romania in Bratislava . He had scored three goals in 57 international matches and was captain once. In the 1st Czechoslovak League, Ladislav Jurkemik played 315 games and scored 53 goals. He moved to FC St. Gallen in the summer of 1984 , for whom he played for four years. From 1989 to 1992 he was a player-coach at FC Chur .
Coaching career
Jurkemik's first coaching station was SK Sturm Graz in the 1992/93 season . With the exception of SV Kapfenberg, one year engagements followed: Spartak Trnava 1993/94, SV Kapfenberg (1994 to 1996), Tauris Rimavská Sobota 1997/98, MFK Ružomberok 1998/99, KOBA Senec 1999/00 and MŠK Žilina 2000/01 . On January 1, 2002 Ladislav Jurkemik was appointed Slovak national coach. He stayed in office until the end of 2003, and his team clearly missed qualifying for the 2004 European Championship . He then supervised the Slovak U-21 selection for a few months before he was again responsible for the team of MŠK Žilina from April 1, 2004. In the remaining weeks of the 2003/04 season he led Žilina to the Slovak championship. He was released shortly before the end of the 2004/05 season. Ladislav Jurkemik then worked as a manager at Inter Bratislava, on March 29, 2006 he took over the post of head coach. Since March 2011 he has been a coach at the Slovak first division club MFK Ružomberok , he was a coach at the MFK in autumn 2010.
