history
Chur 97 was created in 1997 from a merger of the three clubs FC Chur, FC Neustadt and SC Grischuna. The team played in their first season in the 2nd division , the fifth division, and immediately relegated to the 3rd division . Only a year later, the direct return to the 2nd division took place. With two consecutive promotions, the club played in the first division for the first time from 2001. There they managed to stay relegated for three years in a row before the club had to relegate to the second interregional league again after the 2004/05 season. A year later it went up a step again and the return to the first division was celebrated, which again a disillusionment and the fall in the fourth division took place. Then it went back to the 1st league in 2008/09, before only one year later the case had to be started again in the 2nd interregional league .
The club made it into the main round of the Swiss Cup several times . In 2003/04 they faced FC St. Gallen in the first round , which they lost 2-0. In 2009/10, Chur lost in the first round against FC Töss , this time 3-0. In the 2011/12 season, the team lost 2-1 to the then Axpo Super League representative Neuchâtel Xamax with President Bulat Tschagajew, despite Roman Demarmels' opening goal .
