Ján Švehlík (born January 17, 1950 in Lovča ) is a former Slovak football player and coach . With the Czechoslovak national team he became European champion in 1976. Since 2005 he has been the sports director of ŠK Slovan Bratislava , the club where he spent most of his playing career.

Club career

Švehlík began his career in 1969 at Slovan Bratislava and ended it at the same club in 1982. In the 1976/77 season he completed his military service at Dukla Prague . With Slovan he was Czechoslovakian champion in 1970, 1974 and 1975, as well as cup winner in 1974 and in his last year 1982. In the first Czechoslovakian league he came to 296 missions in which he shot 79.

International career

Internationally, he played 17 times for Czechoslovakia. At the European Football Championship in 1976 in Yugoslavia , he was European champion with Czechoslovakia. In the game against Germany he scored one goal.
