Alexander Vencel (born February 8, 1944 in Ilva Mare , Hungary , now Romania ) is a former Slovak football goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach . Vencel played 25 times for the Czechoslovak national football team .

Alexander Vencel was born in Ilva Mare , Transylvania . As a teenager he came to Czechoslovakia and played football in Diakovce near Šaľa . In 1958 he moved to TJ Dimitrov Bratislava, which merged with Slovan Bratislava in 1960 .
The goalkeeper did his two-year military service from 1963 to 1965 at the army club Dukla Komárno. He then returned to Slovan Bratislava and was his goalkeeper for the next twelve years.
Vencel won the Czechoslovak championship with Slovan in 1970, 1974 and 1975 . The team won the Czechoslovak Cup in 1968 and 1974. Vencel celebrated an international success by winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1968/69 .
After 321 first division games for Slovan Bratislava, 132 of which without conceding a goal, Vencel moved to the then second division team Plastika Nitra in 1977 , where he stayed until 1979. The goalkeeper ended his career with Slovan Vienna from 1980 to 1982 .
National team
Alexander Vencel made his debut in the Czechoslovak national team on September 19, 1965. The ČSSR defeated Romania 3-1 in the World Cup qualification.
By 1977 Vencel played a total of 25 international matches, his biggest competitor at that time was Ivo Viktor von Dukla Prague , whose deputy Vencel was at the 1970 World Cup . In the group game against Romania, which the Czechs and Slovaks lost 2-1, he made his only World Cup appearance.
Vencel gave his senior in Czechoslovakia on March 30, 1977 in the 3-0 defeat against Wales in Wrexham .
Trainer
After his playing career, Alexander Vencel worked as a goalkeeper and assistant coach in Slovakia, among others at Kablo Bratislava, DAC Dunajská Streda and Spartak Trnava . In the 2007/08 season he worked for Slovan Bratislava.
