Diakovce (up to 1927 Slovak "Deakovce"; Hungarian Deáki ) is a municipality in Okres Šaľa within the Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia with about 2300 inhabitants.

The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands , four kilometers southwest of the city of Šaľa .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1002 in a document as Wag . It was a royal dedication to the area of Pannonhalma Abbey . This was the ruler throughout the Middle Ages and in modern times until 1848 and the largest owner in today's municipal area until 1945. In 1090 a Benedictine monastery can be found in the village. The oldest attraction is the church, which started in the 11th century. In 1228 the Romanesque Church of the Virgin Mary was built as the original chapel and was rebuilt in 1872–75.
Until 1919 the place was in Pressburg County within the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938–1945 it belonged again to Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .
While in the past the inhabitants were engaged in agriculture, today the majority is active in the industrial and service sector. There is a thermal bath near the place.
