Dlhá nad Váhom (Slovak until the 19th century "Dlhá"; German Langendorf an der Waag , Hungarian Vághosszúfalu - until 1907 Hosszúfalu ) is a place and a municipality in Okres Šaľa of Nitriansky kraj in southwest Slovakia . The number of inhabitants was 901 (December 31, 2019) and was a Magyar majority at the 2001 census.

The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands on the left bank of the Waag , directly opposite the municipality of Kráľová nad Váhom on the right bank . Dlhá nad Váhom is located on the national road 573 between Šoporňa and Veča , a district of the city of Šaľa and is only three kilometers from the city center.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in the Zobor documents in 1113 as Zumboe . Since 1252 the place was an estate of the Premonstratensian Abbey of Turz , since the 16th century it was owned by the Archbishop of Gran. In the 16th and 17th centuries the place was occupied by Turks several times . The main source of income for the population was agriculture, there were also some mills on the Waag.

The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1919 and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . 1938-1945 he was again part of Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

The Roman Catholic Church is consecrated to the Trinity and was originally built in 1766.
