Illuminated ( English for 'enlightened' or 'illuminated') is a song by the British synth-pop duo Hurts from their album Happiness . It was released in the UK on May 6, 2011 as a double A-side with Better Than Love .

The song was not originally intended as a single release. The British pay TV channel Sky 1 used the song to advertise unmissable dramas . As a result, the track finally entered the UK single charts through frequent downloads of the album track . Hurts then decided to release the song as a double A-side with Better Than Love as the fifth single on the album. In addition, Illuminated was released as a single single on iTunes in Switzerland.
