František Štambacher or Štambachr (born February 13, 1953 in Čebín near Kuřim ) is a former Czechoslovak football player .
In the Czech Republic he also heard the nickname “ Štambi ”. He was considered to be a midfield all-rounder who could be used in almost any position, he was particularly active on the left track and in the defensive midfield.

František Štambacher played for Sokol Čebín and KPS Brno in his youth . In 1972 he moved to Dukla Prague (now Marila Příbram ), to whom he remained loyal for 12 years. For Dukla, he played 292 top division games, in which he scored 31 goals, and 13 UEFA Cup games, where he scored 3 times.
In 1977, 1979 and 1982 he was Czechoslovakian champion , 1981 and 1983 cup winner . At the end of his career in Greece he played for AEK Athens (7 / 1984-12 / 1984) and Apollon Athens (12 / 1984-6 / 1985).

National team

For Czechoslovakia Štambacher completed 31 games in which he scored 5 goals. At the European Championship in 1976 he was not used, but was finally able to celebrate as European champion. At the next European Championship in 1980 he contributed with his 2 missions to Czechoslovakia 3rd place.
In the same year he was a member of his country's Olympic selection at the Olympic Games in Moscow , which was crowned with the gold medal. In the final, his beautiful submission helped Jindřich Svoboda, who had just been substituted, to the 1-0 final score against the GDR.
Two years later, he took part in the 1982 World Cup and received an assignment, but his team did not make it past the group stage.

Trivia

Today (as of September 2006) he runs a fitness center in Prague.
