Josef Silný (born January 23, 1902 in Kroměříž , Austria-Hungary , † May 15, 1981 ) was a Czech football player . Silný played 50 international matches for Czechoslovakia and was runner-up in 1934.

Club career

Josef Silný played for Hanácka Slavia Kroměříž as a teenager and moved to Slavia Prague at the age of 21 . There the center forward quickly prevailed and was able to celebrate winning the title in the premier season of the first division in 1925, to which he contributed eight hits. In the following season 1925/26 he scored 24 goals for the red-whites and then moved to the biggest rival Sparta Prague .

Silný also scored goals for Sparta regularly, in 1930/31 he was the top scorer of his team with 18 goals. In 1927 he not only won the Czechoslovak Championship with Sparta, but also the Mitropa Cup . In the final first leg in which Sparta Prague SK Rapid Wien with 6: 2, defeating shot siły two goals in the second leg he scored in the 1: 2 defeat the consolation goal .

On October 17, 1932, in the derby against his former club Slavia, Silný was the first player to break the 100-goal mark in the top division. He was to make 13 more goals. In 1933 he moved to SC Nîmes , but returned in the summer of 1934 and played for FC Bohemians Prague , for which he scored five league goals.

In the autumn of 1935 Silný returned to his youth club Hanácka Slavia Kroměříž and worked there as a player- coach until 1940 .

National team

Josef Silný made his debut on October 28, 1925 in the Czechoslovak national team , in a 7-0 win over Yugoslavia , he scored the fifth goal. In the following nine years he was part of the tribe of the selection and played a total of 50 international matches, the last in the round of 16 of the 1934 World Cup against Romania . Josef Silný scored 28 goals for his country.
