Gustorf is a place in the city of Grevenbroich in the Rhine district of Neuss in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The village of Gustorf is located in the southern part of today's city of Grevenbroich in the Rhine district of Neuss. In the west it borders on the city of Jüchen . Part of the area belonged to the Garzweiler lignite mining area . The former municipality of Gustorf had an area of ​​10.86 km². In 1974 there were 675 inhabitants per km².

history

Gustorf was first mentioned as Gotzhorpe around 1070. Initially the place belonged to the County of Hochstaden and from 1246 to the Archbishopric of Cologne . Together with Frimmersdorf , Gustorf formed the Gustorf-Frimmersdorf Dingstuhl in the district of Liedberg in the Electorate of Cologne . In 1794 the place was occupied by French troops. The Mairie Gustorf was created as a new administrative unit in the Arrondissement de Cologne in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 Gustorf came to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1816, the community of Gustorf was formed with the places Gustorf and Gindorf, which belonged to the Grevenbroich district . In 1846 the two independent communities Gustorf and Gindorf came into being, but they were merged again to one community in 1929. Christian Kropp was mayor from 1948 to 1970 and deputy from 1961 to 1970. District Administrator. The last mayor of Gustorf was Dieter Steup (SPD) and his deputy Jakob Bischof (CDWG). On January 1, 1975, the municipality became part of the city of Grevenbroich as part of a municipal reorganization . The basis was Section 4 of the Düsseldorf Act .

Catholic parish church
The Catholic parish is one of the oldest parishes in the Archdiocese of Cologne. The parish church of the Assumption of Mary was an archbishop's own church. The parish church area comprised the later independent communities of Elfgen and Garzweiler. The Gustorfer choir barriers were in the parish church and are now in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn. In 1872 the old parish church was torn down and replaced by a large, neo-Gothic new building from the 19th century, which is popularly known as the "Dom an der Erft".
