history

A Neolithic settlement has been found south of the village of Mühlrath.

Originally Mühlrath was called Ulenrath and consisted of about five individual farms, including Groß-Ulenrath and Klein-Ulenrath, both of which can be traced back to the 14th century. Ulenrath became Eulenrath , a name that was used for today's Mühlrath until 1720.

In the Middle Ages, Mühlrath was part of the Electoral Cologne Office of Hülchrath . In 1794 French troops occupied the place. Mühlrath came to the Mairie Hülchrath in the Département de la Roer . After the Congress of Vienna , Mühlrath came to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1816 the mayor's office in Hülrchrath was formed, to which Mühlrath also belonged. In 1929 the municipality of Hülchrath came to the district of Grevenbroich-Neuss and was renamed the municipality of Neukirchen. On December 31, 1974, the Neukirchen community was dissolved and since January 1, 1975, Mühlrath has been part of the city of Grevenbroich.
