Fire Down Below is an American action film from 1997 with Steven Seagal in the role of Federal Marshal Jack Taggart.

action

A federal marshal is mysteriously murdered in a small town in the US state of Kentucky . Jack Taggart ( Steven Seagal ), also a US Marshal, is sent to the sleepy nest to solve the murder of his colleague. The residents of the village are silent about the incident, which makes Taggart's investigation difficult. In his research, however, he comes across the reasons why his colleague was there and apparently was killed:

The mountain landscape around the small town is apparently a gigantic repository for toxic waste of all kinds due to bad water and air pollution. All traces lead to the seedy mining tycoon Orin Hanner ( Kris Kristofferson ), who silenced the small town with a relatively small amount of funds Has. In order to prevent a huge environmental catastrophe, Taggart cracks down mercilessly and exposes the machinations of Hanners and his people at the risk of his life.
