history

Gindorf is an old street village, the origins of which consisted of Friedensstraße (formerly: Hindenburgstraße), St. Leonhard-Straße and Mühlenstraße. The farms, many of which still exist today, were also located on these roads. It can be assumed that the village was built around the same time as Gustorf, which is mentioned for the first time in 1269.

The place name Gindorf probably comes from the 18th century from the name "Gingustorp".

In the Middle Ages and in the early modern period, Gindorf belonged to the Dingstuhl Frimmersdorf in the Liedberg district in the Electorate of Cologne . In 1794 the place was occupied by the French troops. The Commune Gindorf was created, which belonged to Mairie Gustorf in the canton of Elsen and existed until 1815. 1815 Gindorf became part of the Prussian Rhine province and arrived in 1816 at the district Grevenbroich in the administrative district of Dusseldorf and in the community Gustorf. In 1846 Gindorf became an independent municipality again. When the first communal territorial reform was carried out in 1929, Gindorf was again incorporated into the community of Gustorf. At the same time, the place came to the greater district of Grevenbroich-Neuss . Gindorf has been part of the city of Grevenbroich since January 1st, 1975.
