Allrath is a village in the town of Grevenbroich in the Rhine district of Neuss .

location

Allrath is a community village on the southern city limits of Grevenbroich. The federal highway 59 runs from south to north through Allrath, which divides the village into two parts. On the other hand, Kreisstraße 31, coming from the west of Neurath , runs via Allrath to Barrenstein . Rommerskirchen - Sinsteden is located south of Allrath . Allrath is immediately adjacent to the Vollrather Höhe to the west . This increase is with a height of 187 m above sea level. NN the highest point in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss . Before the village of Barrenstein is the railway line Cologne -Rommerskirchen-Grevenbroich- Mönchengladbach in an easterly direction .

history

The Catholic Church of Allrath was first mentioned in 1117. At that time it was consecrated by the Archbishop of Cologne Friedrich I. von Schwarzenburg . The name Allrath was mentioned as Aldenrode , Aldenrayde and Aldenrath in the following years. In 1378 the Catholic parish Grevenbroich was separated from the parish Allrath. In 1533 the place was ravaged by the plague . Until 1794, the small village belonged to the Grevenbroich office in the Duchy of Jülich . In 1794 it was occupied by French revolutionary troops and assigned to the Mairie Grevenbroich. After the Congress of Vienna, the place to belong circle Grevenbroich in the administrative district of Dusseldorf . In 1894 Allrath belonged to the Grevenbroich District Court and Post Office, and from 1929 to the Grevenbroich-Neuss district . In 1931 the community of Allrath was incorporated into the city of Grevenbroich. The parish church was on 23 July 1967 by the Cologne Auxiliary Bishop Augustine Frotz consecrated .

Josef Wasel was born in Allrath on March 28, 1868, who as a Steyler missionary brother under the name of Brother Kostka through his miraculous healing in the process of canonization for the SVD order's founder, St. Arnold Janssen , played a significant role.
