history
Sinsteden was first mentioned in a document around 1155 under the name "Senstede".
After the French invaded in 1794, the area on the left bank of the Rhine became French. In 1798 the French divided the Rhineland into four departments (Rur / Roer, Rhine-Mosel, Saar and Donnersberg). Départements were divided into arrondissements , these in cantons and these in mairies . The Mairie Rommerskirchen was established as the lowest administrative unit in this area. This belonged to the canton of Dormagen in the Arrondissement Cologne in the Département de la Roer . After the withdrawal of the French occupation troops as a result of the collapse of the Napoleonic Empire in 1814, the Catholic Rhineland was awarded to Protestant Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1815 Sinsteden came to the municipality of Rommerskirchen, which belonged to the Rhine district of Neuss.
In 1970 Sinsteden expanded through the construction of the "New Settlement" by the state development company . The construction of a bypass should start in 2016. Construction began at the end of 2018 and was completed in October 2019.
